FAQ
What we know
The basics
When is Camp Hujjah?
Camp Hujjah 2026 is Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4, 2026. Three days and two nights. Future dates are announced on this site.
What age group does the camp cater for?
Every age. Camp Hujjah is an all-ages camp. Families come together, and there is programming aimed at young children, at youth, and at adults. You do not need to come with a group to belong here.
How can I get more information?
Use the question form on this site. It reaches the people organizing the camp and a real person answers. That includes things this page does not cover.
Who are the counselors and volunteers?
Volunteers from the community, alongside the staff at the camp site itself. If you want to know more about screening or how the children are supervised, email us and we will answer you directly.
Registering
Can I still register?
No. Registration for 2026 is closed. Every place was taken and the roster is set. If you are already registered, What to Bring has the practical details.
I am registered. Where are the practical details?
The What to Bring page has the packing list, the weather, and the waiver you sign on arrival. The arrival time and the campsite address are in the committee’s email, not on the public site. Anything you still cannot find, ask and a real person will write back.
Cost
How much does it cost to attend?
The camp fee was set out on the registration form at sign-up. It has never been listed on this site, and registration for 2026 is now closed. If you have a question about what you paid or what it covers, write to us and we will answer it.
How can I support the camp?
The camp ticketing page carries a field for adding a donation, and that is the simplest way to give. Registration itself is closed, so use the donation field rather than the ticket options. Volunteering and sponsoring a family who could not otherwise afford to come are both welcome too, and if you would rather ask a person what is most useful right now, email us.
Getting there and staying there
Where is the camp held?
In Mentone, California, in the San Bernardino foothills, about an hour and a half east of Los Angeles. The exact site address and directions go out to registered families before the camp.
Is there carpooling or shared transportation?
Families are coming from San Diego, Los Angeles, Dallas, and elsewhere, so getting there is a real question for a lot of people. We don't have a carpool system set up, but write to us and we'll do what we can to connect you with others travelling from your area.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
Cabins, with mattresses and bunk beds. Each cabin has its own restroom with a shower. Bring your own bedding: a blanket, sheets and a pillow, or a sleeping bag. Cabins are assigned when you check in on the Friday.
Can my family stay together?
Cabin assignments are made by the committee. If your family needs to be placed together, or there is something particular about your situation, email us before you arrive and tell us.
Are meals provided?
Yes. All meals across the three days are provided, and everything is halal. If your family has allergies or dietary requirements, write to us and we will work around them rather than apologize for them.
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is on the Friday and check-out on the Sunday. The exact times went to registered families in the committee email, and are not published here.
What should we bring?
The full packing list is on the What to Bring page, together with what the weather will do and the waiver you sign on arrival.
The program
Who are the speakers and facilitators?
Three scholars are teaching across the three days. Their names and backgrounds are on the Scholars page.
What activities are available?
Talks and discussions with the guest scholars, salah and dua sessions, time outdoors, a campfire and evening activities, kids’ activities and games, family-friendly competitions, and community meals, with time set aside simply to meet the other families. The hour by hour program is not published in advance, so some of it stays a surprise. Saturday and Sunday include physical activity, so bring shoes you can move in.
